Social Isolation and Loneliness
We are social creatures. Even if you are an introvert, there is a complex array of social interactions that keeps us feeling safe and connected to others in our village of friends, co-workers and family. Even nods from familiar faces and smiles at our neighborhood establishments serve to tell us that all is well.
When even a small portion of our social fabric goes missing, we notice. It's heads up time when our relationships shift. Beyond loneliness, which can be painful and torturous, social isolation can lead to depression and is linked to "adverse health consequences including depression, poor sleep quality, impaired executive function, accelerated cognitive decline, poor cardiovascular function and impaired immunity at every stage of life.[1]"
Researchers have found that is it more effective to address the negative thoughts and feelings underlying loneliness in the first place - more helpful than interventions that focus on social skills, enhancing social support or increasing opportunities for social interaction[1]. In other words,
if we are feeling lonely or isolated, the best strategy is to work on those feelings and emotions.
Reaching out to others may calm us temporarily, but the connection will fade afterwards and the feelings of intolerable solitude will return.
Emotional Resolution, EmRes, sessions work to remove the underlying emotions. We may label those uncomfortable feelings as loneliness, depression or lack of self-worth. But the labeling itself nor the knowing where those feelings came from will not dissipate the emotions buried in the body by experiences we may or may not remember at all.
An EmRes session is based on the latest understandings in neuroscience about how emotions are made. (more about how emotions are made). The Emotional Resolution method assimilates your uncomfortable emotional responses with the sensory imprint left in the body by the emotion's original trauma. This "somatic quieting" is a natural and innate process.
Performed around the world, with repeatable results, Emotional Resolution sessions permanently resolve emotional stresses.
Are you ready to release your loneliness and feel comforted by your village even when they are not near you?
